Patient Resources

Tools for the time between visits.

Clinical care is the foundation — but what you do between appointments matters too. These are the tools, programs, and products Dr. Sapp recommends to her patients and uses herself.

Symptom Tracking
Play Health
Play Health App

Included with both membership tiers. Play Health helps you track symptoms between visits so Dr. Sapp can see patterns, measure change over time, and make more informed adjustments to your care.

Why symptom tracking matters

Memory is imperfect — especially when you're in the thick of a difficult symptom cycle. A hot flash at 2 a.m. feels significant in the moment and forgettable three weeks later when you're sitting in front of your physician.

Play Health fills that gap. By logging symptoms consistently between visits, you build a record that makes your time with Dr. Sapp more productive: less time reconstructing what's been happening, more time discussing what to do about it.

It also makes it easier to see whether a treatment change is actually working — which matters when you're titrating hormones or adjusting medications over weeks or months.

Daily symptom logging

Track hot flashes, sleep quality, mood, energy, brain fog, and other symptoms with a quick daily check-in.

Trend visibility

Patterns emerge over time that are invisible day-to-day — correlations between sleep, stress, and symptom severity become clear.

Shareable with Dr. Sapp

Data is accessible to Dr. Sapp before and during your visits, so your appointments start with context already in place.

Treatment response tracking

See objectively whether your symptoms are improving as your treatment plan takes effect — not just how you feel on any given day.

📲

Free for all Metis patients. The Play Health app is free to download and use. Dr. Sapp will send you a link when you schedule your first appointment — the sooner you start logging, the more useful your first visit will be.

Body Composition Monitoring
InBodyBody Composition
InBody H20, H30 & H40 Home Scale

Standard bathroom scales measure one thing: total weight. They can't tell you whether you're losing fat or muscle — a critical distinction during the menopause transition, when muscle mass is actively at risk.

Why body composition matters more than weight

InBody H20 / H30 / H40 · Home Bioelectrical Impedance Scale

During perimenopause and menopause, body composition changes even when total weight stays the same. Fat redistributes toward the abdomen. Muscle mass declines. Metabolic rate falls. A scale that only shows pounds gives you an incomplete — and sometimes misleading — picture of what's happening.

Body composition measurement tracks the ratio that actually matters: fat mass versus lean mass. This is especially relevant if you're on hormone therapy, GLP-1 medications, or a new strength training program — all of which can affect body composition in ways that don't always show up on a conventional scale.

The InBody H20, H30, and H40 use bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to estimate body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, and total body water. They're the most accessible consumer-grade options Dr. Sapp recommends for home monitoring between visits.

Dr. Sapp has no financial relationship with InBody. This recommendation is based on clinical utility and patient experience.

What it measures

Body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, total body water, BMI, and weight — with trending over time.

Why BIA at home

Clinical-grade DEXA scans are the gold standard, but they require a visit and are expensive. Home BIA is a practical, consistent way to track directional changes between appointments.

H20 vs. H30 vs. H40

The H20 is the entry-level option with core metrics. The H30 adds Bluetooth connectivity and app integration for easier trend tracking over time. The H40 adds segmental analysis (arms, legs, and trunk measured separately) for the most granular picture of where muscle and fat are distributed. Any of the three is appropriate for home use.

How to use it well

Weigh at the same time of day, same hydration state, same conditions. Morning before eating or drinking is most consistent. Trends over weeks and months matter more than any single reading.

Where to purchase

Available directly from InBody at inbodyusa.com, and through major retailers. Prices range from approximately $100–$200 depending on model.

Fasting-Mimicking Nutrition
ProLon®
ProLon

ProLon's Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD) allows the body to enter a fasting state while still eating — delivering the metabolic and cellular benefits of a prolonged fast without complete caloric restriction. Dr. Sapp recommends ProLon to select patients as a complement to hormonal and metabolic care.

What the Fasting Mimicking Diet does

The ProLon FMD is a 5-day program of specially formulated, low-calorie, plant-based nutrition designed to keep the body in a fasting-like metabolic state. It was developed by Dr. Valter Longo at the USC Longevity Institute and is backed by over two decades of research.

During the menopause transition, the body's metabolic flexibility — its ability to switch between fuel sources — often declines alongside estrogen. Periodic fasting-mimicking protocols can support insulin sensitivity, reduce visceral fat, promote cellular autophagy, and improve cardiometabolic markers.

ProLon is not a weight loss product in the conventional sense. It is a cellular reset tool — most appropriate as a periodic intervention (typically once per month, once per quarter, or seasonally) rather than a continuous diet. Dr. Sapp discusses timing, candidacy, and frequency individually with each patient.

Not every patient is a candidate for FMD. Dr. Sapp will discuss whether ProLon is appropriate for you based on your health history, current medications, and treatment goals.

ProLon Products

  • 5-Day FMD Program — the core fasting-mimicking kit; all meals included
  • ProLon Reset — abbreviated 1-day reset option
  • ProLon Shakes & Soups — individual meal components available separately
  • Longevity supplements — additional products from the ProLon line

Dr. Sapp's discount applies to all ProLon products — not only the 5-day kit.
